The Spanish side known for best football play could be following the way of fallen clubs of Italy and England and be unable to compete for the top European competitions unless time suited changes are made in the club.
Presidential Candidate Victor Font predicted that Barcelona could become “a new AC Milan or Manchester United” and be unable to compete for major European titles unless serious changes are made at the club.
The Catalans have lost the league title to their long-term rivals Real Madrid on Thursday, the league which FC Barcelona was holding stronghold before COVID-19 break. Barcelona must-win UCL in order to avoid going for a trophyless season.
Victor Font, who is running his campaign against incumbent President in next elections, set to take place in 2021, warned that the 26-time La Liga champions could follow the footsteps of other big clubs of European football in competing for major titles if changes are not made at the club.
He said the impact of deadly virus coronavirus, coupled with star players such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique ageing and nearing towards the end of their career peaks, as well as the finances needed to renovate their Camp Nou home, could all have serious ramifications for Barcelona in the future.
The presidential candidate, Victor Font predicted: “Competition over the last decade has become more and more professional. You see in the Premier League with clubs well managed, and even states owning clubs to put in a lot of money at a time where the finance of the club and economic model is stretched to the limit.”
“Unless we do what we are trying, Barca has the risk of becoming a new Milan or a Manchester United.”
Down Fall of AC Milan and Manchester United
AC Milan is arguably one of the most prolific clubs in the world with 18 Serie A titles and seven victories in European Championships, and they are now on the edge of the worst run in their history. AC Milan won the UCL 2007 last time and are now unable to play in the top flight of UEFA, while they did not win Serie A title since 2011. How the most successful club has gone from best-to-worst is just because of bad management and uncleared decisions at the club.

Messi is unhappy
The carrier of FC Barcelona, star forwarder whose contract with the club expires in 2021, is unhappy with the conditions going on at the club and spoke about that after losing to Osasuna on Thursday night to hand the league title to rivals Real Madrid.
The presidential candidate, Victor Font predicted about Star Forward: “He is unhappy and doubting what to do next. He is probably a bit frustrated as year after year he is not able to win, especially the Champions League. That’s where the focus needs to be.”
“We want to ensure he understands if we were to run the club from next summer onwards, we would put all the conditions to equip him in the best possible way so the last years of his career here he can still aspire to win a couple of Champions Leagues.”
FC Barcelona is going through tough times in recent seasons but the did manage to win La Liga twice.
