When does the summer transfer window open up for top five European leagues?
As the disrupted 2019/20 season by COVID-19 draws to an end after resume, here we look upon dates for summer transfer window for major Euro leagues.
The 2019/2020 season was badly affected by the spread of Coronavirus across the globe which ultimately resulted in force-suspension of sporting events and rescheduling of the events calendar. As the situation gets a bit normalized, leagues across Europe resumed after COVID-19 break.
With all events being rescheduled, transfer window for major European leagues also placed in new dates so teams can make new signings; here in this article, we look upon on new dates of the summer transfer window for top five European leagues.
The top tier of French football opened its transfer window on 8th of June, all after the ban imposed on all sporting events in the country by the govt to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, because of FIFA’s 12-week rule, it was then closed by the officials and new dates have not been announced for teams to make new signings.
The German football league was the first of major European leagues to return playing after the all-of-a-sudden suspension of events across the globe due to pandemic.
Bundesliga officials allowed clubs to register any agreed transfers on the 1st of July as usual, but then they had to close the window the day after because FIFA rules do not allow transfer windows to last longer than 12 weeks, as happened in France.
The Bundesliga summer transfer window then reopened on the 15th of July and teams can sign new players until 5th of October.
The Spanish league season finished a week earlier than EPL, but as per directions Spanish top-flight teams will not be allowed to make any new summer signings until 4rth of August, and they will, onwards can sign player by 5th of October in the scheduled window.

The Spanish window will be of interest of English sides where top clubs are involved in signings of potential players, including Arsenal.
The suspended 2019/2020 season will not be finished until 2 August in Italy. With a subject to the late finish of the season, Italian sides will not have much time to get business done. The summer transfer window of Serie A will open from 1st of September and teams will have only 5 weeks to make signings.
English Premier League:
The summer transfer window of English top-flight opened on the 27th of July. English sides will now be able to make new signings until 5th of October, the day before UEFA’s deadline for Champions League and Europa League squad registration.
Back then, a year back English sides voted to close the summer transfer window before season starts, so teams can make combination without any signing-warning.
