Only Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Sterling, former English mate Joleon Lescott on Raheem Sterling
The former English man argued that Manchester City is one of the greats of the game, and he deserves to be one of them.
- Joleon Lescott on Raheem Sterling, claims as one of the best.
- Raheem in season 2019/20.
- The winger can play as a striker for City, the former defender said.
Manchester City winger, Sterling have scored 14 Premier League this season, the winger deserves to be placed among the game’s very best, the former defender Lescott argued.
In a talk, Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is only surpassed by the likes of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the game, said by former England team-mate Joleon Lescott.
The 25-year-old attacker may have not helped City to lift the title for a record third consecutive time, but he has enjoyed another strong season while having scored 14 EPL goals with providing three assists in 29 league appearance for the Manchester City.
The former centre-back believes that the former Liverpool man should be placed among the game’s absolute elite class; among the likes of Messi and Ronaldo respectively.
“Raheem has taken himself to the top tier now,” Lescott told the club’s ‘We’re Not Really Here’ matchday show. “He has to be regarded as one of the top wide players or forwards in the game because he contributes”, Joleon Lescott on Raheem Sterling.
“He has the ability to play well and win the man of the match and not score and then on other occasions he just scores and impacts the game that way.”
“I think you have to be pretty naïve to not respect what he’s doing. There are players like Messi and Ronaldo that are scoring 50 goals a season. They are super freaks! In terms of the next tier, Raheem has to be compared to those kinds of players”, Joleon Lescott on Raheem Sterling.

The former defender has suggested that the wide-man could be a capable substitute for an injured striker Sergio.
“There are always going to be options for players to play in different positions, but Raheem has proven he can play as a No.9,” Lescott, the former defender, who turned out for City between 2009 and 2014, said.
“The No.9s that we’ve come across in the past in the Premier League needed to hold up the ball, but that doesn’t need to happen for City”, Joleon Lescott on Raheem Sterling.
“You need to make runs off the ball and create space for other people in the possession and obviously have the composure that Raheem’s got in front of goal.”
“He’s now our top goal scorer, I didn’t think there would be a time when someone would score more than Sergio Aguero whilst he is at the club. I know he’s been injured, but it’s a credit to him”, Joleon Lescott on Raheem Sterling.
On facts and records, The English man, Sterling has been phenomenal in last 3 seasons and have shown the potential ability to achieve an absolute elite level, and for that to be among them; a player has to show consistency in his long-way as Messi and Ronaldo did show by dominating the decade.
