Former Barça defender said Barcelona were rocketing every corner in Champions League final 2015 against the old lady.

The Spanish giants crashed their Italian opponent in a final game of UEFA Champions League in Berlin, 2015.

Former Catalan’s hero, Brazilian Defender, Dani Alves recalled their hard-fought win against the old lady in the UEFA Champions League final 2015 and compared the performance of Catalans with late Muhammad Ali.

The Treble

Luis Enrique’s buzzing side secured second Treble in their club history after winning over Juventus by the score on board 3-1, with scorers Ivan Rakitic, Nayamr Jr. and Luis Suarez, Barça clinched the Champions League final 2015 and secured ‘the treble’.

Lighting up the past, Former Barça defender felt that Barça were like famous boxer Muhammad Ali in the final against Serie A side as the Spanish giants made the most of possession they had, and down Italian Juve.

“We were up against very physical opponents and we knew we had to win by having the ball. It does not matter how strong your opponents is if you have them chasing after the ball so that they get tired,” Alves told Barcelona’s official website.

He channelled: we floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee.

“The moment they let their guard down is the moment to attack. We were like Muhammad Ali: we floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee,” he said.

Recalling the Champions League final 2015, and comparing Barcelona performance with legendary boxer he further added: “I think we were deserving winners of the final and we celebrated a lot as we had repeated the treble.”

“I remember pretty much everything about the final. It’s very recent and not a lot of time has passed since then. I remember it was a very special moment but also a tough one on a personal and collective level.”

“People thought we couldn’t win another treble and were supporting our opponents to stop us doing it. We were aware that people thought we could not do it. When you are prepared to face that, it’s unlikely negative things happen. That is Barca’s secret in finals: they are always prepared.”

As per stats, season 2014-15 was a season where Football Club Barcelona only lost six matches in all competitions. Barca secured their second treble in club history by winning Laliga and Copa Del Rey.

Real Madrid Treble of UCL’s

Since that winning night in Berlin, the Spanish giants have not been able to qualify for the finals as they looked up favourites against AS Roma and Liverpool FC but yet ended with have been knocked out in the second leg of their both ties.

In the years after Barça had that night in Berlin, the club’s arch-rivals Real Madrid won the treble of UEFA Champions League, while Barça have not qualified for the finals to write their name on trophy since then.
