LPL 2020: Mohammad Amir reveals what Shahid Afridi told Naveen-ul-Haq after the match. Post the heated exchange on the field, the cricketers also explained their stance on Twitter.

The first edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020) is witnessing some top quality cricket at the moment, along with it, the players are also feeling the heat on the field and a recent incident involving Pakistan cricketers Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Amir in a verbal spat with Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq caught the attention of cricket supporters around the world, especially from two neighbour countries, – thanks to the rivalry and nasty relationships between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The verbal spat between Amir and Naveen started with both players having a go at each other soon after the match between Galle Gladiators and Kandy Tuskers ended in LPL 2020. The latter clearly wasn’t happy and when Afridi, the Gladiators skipper, came out for a handshake with the opposition team, he had something to say to the youngster which eventually caught an eye and the play goes viral on social media with supporters taking part into it.

Later, Shahid Afridi also cleared in a tweet that he advised Naveen-ul-Haq to not get indulged in an abusive talk unnecessarily. However, the Afghanistan pacer came up with a ‘Give respect, take respect‘ tweet taking forward the debate around the heated matter.

Mohammad Amir, meanwhile, has revealed as to what did Shahid Afridi say to Naveen after a match in LPL 2020.

“At the end of the innings, I was a little riled up also and as you know the heart rate is already. Shahid Bhai was trying to make him understand that these aren’t the type of ethics we should have, that he should not behave like that with his seniors, that he should be a gentleman; This is cricket and you get hit for 4s and 6s but you can also get wickets,” Amir said while got involved in a heated exchange of words in LPL 2020.

Mohammad Amir while speaking in a one-to-one talk also stated that Naveen is a youngster and will only learn as he plays more in the near future.

“He [Naveen-ul-Haq] is a youngster and will learn soon as this happens when you are new to cricket; Even when I started off, I had this habit of getting into trouble with every other batsman. This is cricket and things happen in the heat of the moment – its nothing personal to be honest,” the left-arm pacer added.

Galle Gladiators player in the LPL 2020 talking about himself, Mohammad Amir pointed out that he tries to be friendly with everyone nowadays and there is no use of showing aggression and wasting energy without any reason.

“If you look at me nowadays, I am very friendly with everyone; I don’t sledge batsmen; One should focus on their bowling and all aggression should be left for the time when you take a wicket.”

“Expressing aggression without a reason is of no use as a bowler, it simply wastes your energy which is best used in getting the batsman out. That’s what I said, it would have been better if he had been putting his energy to get me out,” Amir opened on the matter happened in LPL 2020.
